Friendship

Are any of the characters a developing character, changing over time? Explain how the character changed in the story. (What were they like before? What were they like after? Who or what changed them?) Was the change a large or a small change? Is the change believable for the character in his/her situationAt first, I thought that Stanley was a bad character, but as I kept reading, I was starting to see that he’s not really a bad kid after all.

He helped his friend Hector on there way up a mountain called big thumb.

Even his counselor thought he wasn’t a bad kid.

“I understand you’ve made some bad mistakes in your life. Otherwise you wouldn’t be here. But everyone makes mistakes. You may have done some bad things, but that doesn’t mean you’re a bad kid.”

(Sachar 16)

Even I agree with his counselor, he’s not really a bad kid after all. I mean he help out his friend Hector by carrying him up the mountain, because after he had threw up what seems to be called sploosh, he was weak and he fell asleep, he didn’t want to leave him behind, so he decided to carry him all the way up the mountain.

Now that’s what I call a good friend.

The adventures of holes

What is the meaning of the title in your book, does the title mean more than 1 thing? How do you understand the book better because of your title.
Well, just by looking at the title, it just means holes. Because in the book each boy is assigned a hole each day.
Which also has to be 5 feet, and 5 foot in diameter, basically the size of there shovel.
you are to dig one hole each day, including Saturdays and Sundays. Each hole must be five feet deep, and five feet across in every direction. Your shovel is your measuring stick.
(Sachar 13)
In the book, the boys are not digging just to build character, because in the beginning of the book, one of the counsellors tell Stanley that if he found something interesting, he is to report it.
“If you dig up anything interesting, you are to report it to me or any other counselor.”
(Sachar 14)
I could tell because the counsellor gives a clue. So one of the boys end up digging up something at first.
And that person was Stanley.

How would digging help a person build character.

That would obviously do nothing.

I bet others might be thinking the same thing thing too.

The only thing digging would be used for is if you or someone else is looking for something that was buried.

Lots of holes

denouement: What is a “conflict” in literature? What is the main conflict in your book? How does the ending resolve (or not resolve) the main conflict? (Is the ending happy, unhappy, or indeterminate?) Was the ending an appropriate ending for the book? Explain.
Well, the conflict is character vs character because in the book, a boy named Stanley Yelnats and his friend who had a nickname which was Zero, but his real name is Hector end up finding a treasure that was buried in a lake that dried up a 100 years ago.
you are to dig one hole each day, including Saturdays and Sundays. Each hole must be five feet deep, and five feet across in every direction. Your shovel is your measuring stick.
(Sachar 13)
And what I also discovered is that at first in the book, they said that they wanted the boys in camp green lake to dig just to build character, which was not true, because the warden was also looking for the buried treasure, which in this case, the treasure was money that was stolen by a woman who was a teacher at a schoolhouse, who now goes by the name Kissin Kate Barlo, and the money was stolen from Stanley’s great grandfather who was then left stranded in a desert for 16 days.
Then she ended up burring the money in the lake.
The ending was also happy because at the end of the book, after 100 years, camp green lake finally got some rain after a rainstorm, which in this case, camp green lake ended up being closed and is now a girls camp.
Stanley’s lawyer ended up picking him and Hector up and taking them back home, the warden was arrested, and all the boys were free as well and got sent back home, and Hector’s mom finally had been found with the help of a team of private investigators.
With the money they found, Stanley also ended up being rich, and gave some of it to his friend Hector.

If the story uses humor, how does the humor contribute to meaning?
No, it does not have any humor, because I think this story is kind of based on reality.
Because like I said earlier, he is going through a big situation, where he can’t remember nothing.
“And yet he didn’t know where he came from, or how he’d gotten inside the dark lift, or who his parents were.
he didn’t even know his last name.”
Dashner p2
This is from the beginning of the book.
And this is showing his situation.
Could you imagine being like that?
I mean I would.
Imagine someone got in an accident and hit there head on some rocks.
He or she would have to go to the hospital to get it checked out.
One of the results could of been, he or she gotten a brain damage and could end up losing his or her memory.
Imagine how his or her parents would feel about that.
They would probably feel depressed.
I wouldn’t that to happen to me in the future.
That would feel awful.
It would also take a while to get your memory back.
Many accidents happen in our world.
Now imagine 2 friends walking in a park.
These friends are, Alex and Amanda.
When they were walking in the parK, they saw some horses and horse riders.
They decided to go horse back riding instead.
They rode around the park a couple times, but there was a big log in the way.
It was there but they didn’t see that log.
Then the horse got a little out of control and Alex fell off the horse and hit his head on the log.
He couldn’t wake up.
And so he had to go to the hospital, and their parents came a long as well.
He had a serious brain damage and after he was done with the doctors, he couldn’t remember nothing.
Poor guy, I could imagine how he’s feeling.

What is the significance of the title of your book? What does the title mean? Does it mean more than one thing? In what ways do you understand your book better because of the title? (A response to this question will be more interesting if your title can mean more than one thing.)
At first, I thought that The maze runner meant people inside a crazy maze, but it really means wicked, generally broken down as World In Catastrophe Killzone Experience Department.
I didn’t know what it was, until I got the break down of it.
When I looked at the title of the book, I just thought like I said earlier, crazy people in a strange maze.
I just took a guess my first time.
For example, if someone was reading this book for a class, and the teacher asked him/her what does the title of your book mean?
He or she would probably take a guess the first time.
And if he/she wanted to find out what the title really means, they would conduct a research to find out.
And if the teacher asked him/her that same question again, he or she would tell the teacher what the title really means.
Another example is when a guy walks up to a group of friends in a school cafeteria.
They see him reading this book, and they ask him a few questions about it.
One of them happens to be, What does the title, maze runner mean?
He didn’t know at first, so he took a guess.
So he goes and ask some of his friends if they knew what it means.
One of his friends just so happens to know what it is.
So he went back to the group of friends and told them what the title meant.

My new book

how do any of the following play a part in the plot of your novel: Chance or coincidence? Mystery? Dilemma (when a character has an important decision and can’t decide what to do)?
Well, in this book, a boy named Thomas, Couldn’t remember things in his life.
He couldn’t remember where he came from, he didn’t know who his parents were, and he didn’t know his last name.
“And yet he didn’t remember where he came from, or how he’d gotten inside the dark lift, or who his parents were.
He didn’t even know his last name.”
Dashner p2
I could imagine how that is going for him.
That’s why he is curious just about anything.
For example, if a girl named Ashley had lost her memory, she couldn’t remember anything.
Maybe she couldn’t remember who her family was, or who her friends were.
That would be a tough time for anyone like that.
How would you feel if you could not remember anything.
I would feel terrible if that happened.
Like I just lost everything in my life.
But this has never happened to me though.
If that happened I couldn’t remember my friends from middle school, or even my friends here at new tech
I would sometimes as questions about things.
Maybe Ashley would be in that same position as well.
She probably couldn’t remember her friends also.
Maybe she couldn’t even remember her family, and I couldn’t remember my family if that happened to me in the future.

Hard

Question; Is the main conflict between sharply differentiated good and evil, or is it more settle and complex?

This would mean it’s more settled because you know, it’s based on real life.

There is no evil in this story.

“I have quite the crowd now.

Gram and Gramps, Uncle Greg, aunt Diane, aunt Kate, my cousins Heather and John and David.

Dad is one of the five kids, so there are still more relatives out there.”

(Forman 53)

This is evidence of how Mia is doing right now. This is a difficult state for her family to go through as well to see her like this. Well in which case all of their family which is Mia, her brother and her parents that have gone through such a horrible, horrible position right now and of course they dont make but Mia.

What if were one of us to be in this place and lose so many precious things that we always adored each and every way so in this case its all about that and how to get passed it without giving up.

She’s currently at a hospital with almost all of her relatives.

Everyone is there except for one kid Teddy, who is at another hospital.

At that hospital, he is being taken care of, By Willow to be exact.

For example.

Zac was at a hospital, because some of his relatives were there, he would feel supported.

But, say that he got some more relatives from his family that came.

Now he’s feeling more supported.

It is always good to have your family by your sid, no matter what.

The Right Path…

Question; How do any of the following play a part in your novel, chance or coincidence, mystery?

Dilemma when a character has an important decision and can’t decide what to do? Its not the easiest thing to do in the world. Its always about taking the right track and know if its going to be good enough or things can be really difficult towards the end just like in this book which is all about that crazy roller coaster.

The following character dois play an important part in the story, her name is Mia

She’s going through a big decision that she has to go through.

“It’s not up to the doctors, it’s not up to the absentee angels, it’s not up to god whom if he exists, is nowhere around right now, it’s up to me.”

(Forman 74)

This shows how she is going through times in her life.

In her world it’s very confusing.

As I described earlier, people have difficult times.

For example.

If John’s parents were thinking about miving to a new job, and his dad hasn’t got payed yet, they would be in a tough situation.

Because they were poor, and didn’t have enough money to pay for the new house.

So they would have to figure out a faster way to make money, so they could move as soon as possible.

This all relates to what Mia is going through.

I hope it all goes well for Mia.

Nothing is hardly ever good in this world, but some day, Everything will be fine.

A True Friend to Cherrish

Question; If the story uses humor how does the humor contribute to the meaning?

No this story does not use any humor at all.

There is no funny business in this story.Because the story is based on real life and love.

“Please don’t die. I can understand you want too, but think about this, if you die there’s going to be one of those cheesy princess Diana memorials at school, where everyone puts flowers and candles and notes in your locker, she wipes away a renegade tear with the back of her hand.”

(Forman 57)

In the book one of the characters, Kim, doesn’t want her friend Mia to die.

Kim was telling Mia that if she died terrible things might happen.

That is why life is very confusing, and a big struggle to Mia.

For example, if I had a friend who wanted to leave me, I would feel sad and left out.

Then I wouldn’t have a friend to talk too or hang out with.

My world would feel empty with out hom/her.

That is why I have many friends, because if one left from my group of friends, I would still have the rest.

In this world, it’s important to have your friends by your side.

Because no matter what, they will always be with you, through thick and thin. Friends can come and go but the real ones who have been through the worse with you but always end up coming back are the ones to always to keep tight and very close

Who knows, one of your friends could end up being fun.

Decisions..

Question: Are the characters consistent in their actions, realistic?

Yes in this book If I stay the characters are consistent in their actions each and every one of them because since this book is based on reality, out of all the characters only one of the characters which is Mia had to make  big decisions.

Mia had to decide if she wanted to stay, or if she wanted to leave. Since she has a brain injury, she felt she wasn’t sure if she wanted to live or die.

“It’s not up to the doctors, it’s not up to the absentee angels, it’s not up to god who, if he exists, is nowhere around right now, it’s up to me.”

(Forman page 74)

This all describes how she’s going through a tough time.

Because as described earlier, she is going through a tough time in her life.

She didn’t want to leave anyone behind.

So this is a tough situation.

And how does relate to what Mia’s going through?

Because in our world, people have to go through many situations big or small, of even the biggests situations.

When that happens, people will have struggles in their lives, just like Mia.

In the book, Mia is curently in a state of being a sleep.

During this she thing about some negative things in her life.

But she doesn’t always like tstayhis.

Also in the book, her grandma and grandpa come and visit her.

But after a little while they leave and she gets freaked out.
